Our Story
This ongoing project began during the 2017-18 school year with about 100 seventh grade students working in collaborative small groups to investigate and solve the question: What is Brookville's biodiversity and how can you improve it? The goal of this project is to increase student awareness and knowledge of their local environment, to make informed decisions, and take action to improve their community.
Through this project, students develop critical thinking, problem-solving and decision-making skills by designing and completing an inquiry investigation. Evidence collected by students is synthesized as they design and create a final product that answer the proposed question. Students demonstrate their understanding by presenting their final product to an authentic audience. |
Each year of this project provides students the opportunity to demonstrate a variety of scientific skills: observing, creating field guides, designing and completing an inquiry investigation, creating presentations in a variety of formats, develop speaking and listening skills, providing and receiving feedback, and refining different types of writing.
One of the goal's of this project is to educate the community. Please take some time to investigate the information on all the pages of this website. We hope you find it educational. |
